Cashew Industry Development in Vietnam:
At the beginning, Vietnamese raw cashew nuts were exported to India for their processing industry. The sales of raw seed had been stopped from 1992 when Vietnam started to export cashew kernels to China and the first lots of cashew kernels were also shipped to the U.S, the largest market of cashew kernel consumption till today, in 1994. 
Vietnam marked a quick development of its cashew processing industry by importing the first lots of raw cashew nuts originating from Africa in 1996 and became the world largest second exporters of cashew kernels from 2002 – 2003 and reached USD 418 million in 2005 behind India.
By continuous efforts of the whole industry Vietnam first time became the world largest exporters in 2006 and has consecutively kept this leading position and first time passed turnover target of USD 2.0 billion in 2013 and been one of the strategic industry of Vietnam until today.
During the development period there were a lot of obstacles total industry has researched and invented ranges of new machines to improve production capability. Most of big factories of cashew nuts have been applying new and high tech in processing line nowadays.
It is proud to say that Vietnam is the pioneer of invention of cashew processing technology in the cashew world.

Vietnam Cashew Kernels Quality:
Most of cashew factories in Vietnam have applied their quality standard in conformity with Association of Food Industries, Inc (AFI) in general grading. There are also some certainly different requirement in quality standard: original AFI is for Latin America, EU Countries, Australia, Russia, some in Asia while other special traders in Japan, Hong Kong, … often require further than AFI standard such as max 4.5% moisture, max 3 - 4% broken kernels for the whole parcel. Besides, Chinese has their own standard especially no broken tolerance and low moisture, this market consumes mostly all grades of cashew kernels.
